Seeking an experienced House Manager with cooking skills to oversee the daily operations of a private residence in Toronto.
The House Manager will be responsible for overseeing the general operations of the residence. This hands-on role is a hybrid 50/50 split position encompassing the operation of the household as well as assisting with food preparation and cooking.
Candidate Profile
Candidates should be experienced and comfortable working collaboratively in a family home and be committed to ensuring the smooth operations of the household.
You have strong home cooking skills and are equally at ease preparing simple meals as you are following a recipe.
An excellent communicator and leader, you approach problem-solving and challenges in stride, and are quick on your feet. You aren’t afraid to roll up your sleeves to pitch in when something needs to be done, while other times able to lead your team through a challenging moment.
Schedule
The core schedule is Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. There is some flexibility required with certain days ending a bit later, the start time would be adjusted later for these days.
Travel
This position also involves supporting a recreational property. This position would require the candidate to be onsite generally 1 day per week at a property outside Collingwood to prep the house for the weekend. There is no requirement to stay over night.
Accommodation
This position is live-out. Candidates would be provided accommodation at the Collingwood property as needed.
Primary Responsibilities
- Full oversight of the day-to-day operations of the residence
- Scheduling home maintenance, repair, renovation work, and supervising
- Preparing family-style meals, prepping groceries, or stocking the fridge with snacks and other items as need be based on the family’s schedule
- Overseeing and supervising all vendor and trades while onsite
- Assist with basic light housekeeping and detailing duties
- Implementing proactive schedules for all maintenance, renovations, etc.
- Running errands, grocery shopping, and other provisioning

- Highly accountable; extremely sound judgment
- Applicants should be energetic and able to anticipate the needs of principal
- Must maintain privacy and confidentiality at all times, exercising diplomacy, discretion and respect of boundaries
- Possess an excellent understanding of English
- Comfortable working in a home with a dog
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Must have a current legal working status in Canada
COVID-19 Considerations
In order to maintain the health and safety of the workplace, this position will require a fully vaccinated candidate as a condition of employment. Proof of vaccination will be required by the candidate prior to their start date. Proof means documentation verifying receipt of a vaccination series approved by Health Canada.
